Macy’s has announced a $50 million sales deal with Amazon to sell engagement rings online.
The company said the deal is the largest in its history and is the biggest ever with a retailer, bringing in a total of $150 million in sales and creating 100,000 new jobs.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Amazon,” said Mark Pincus, Macy’s chief executive officer, in a statement.
“This partnership will help us further our commitment to customers across the world.
It will allow us to further drive growth across the Macy’s assortment and offer our customers even more personalized options.”
Amazon announced in January that it was working with Macy’s to sell the popular “Bubble Ring” online.
It also said it would offer Amazon’s Alexa voice-controlled smart ring to consumers in 2019.
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos announced in March that the online retailer had acquired Echo, a device that allows consumers to use voice commands to control the voice assistant.
Amazon also announced last week that it had acquired a group of companies, including a technology company, to build a self-driving car.
